Here's What I Have to Say

Syncopation and a weekend with the Fam....

So this weekend I indulged in the performing arts by attending the play "Syncopation" at Meadowbrook. My uncle plays Henry, a polish meatpacker in 1911 who is set on becoming a famous ballroom dancer. He puts an ad in the newspaper requesting a dance partner and that is where this romantic comedy begins. I've seen several of my uncle's plays over the years, but none that I really took the time to analyze from a theatre-goer perspective. After almost three hours, the curtain dropped and we all headed out to meet him at Applebee's across the street from the show. Excited that we had all come to see him perform, my uncle asked what we thought of the play. Each one of us had a different perspective and wanted to know what the playwright had intended for the audience to perceive. The thing is, playwrights, like writers don't always set out to make their audiences "see" specific points. That's the beauty of the arts I think; always open for interpretation. Afterall, isn't that why we go attend performances? Read books, etc.? What fun would it be to always be told what to think? Posted by Picasa

How do speed skaters find jeans that fit?

This question originates from a problem most women can relate to....the shrinkage of your favorite pair of jeans (I swear my dryer has a vendetta against me because it prefers Downy over Bounce). Yesterday morning I tried on every pair of jeans I own and could not muster up enough strength to fit into my usual comfy pair. So what's a girl to do? Bow her head and put on her "big girl" jeans for the day in hopes that tomorrow will be more promising. Well today wasn't nearly as promising as I had hoped, so I decided to check out NY&Co. , Express, and The Limited before resorting to the only store that carried sizes for the curvy women of the world, Old Navy. So what do you ask does all of this have to do with speed skating? Well, after an exhausting afternoon at the mall (where I spent $24.50 on the equivalent of the Blue Light special) I retired to my couch to channel surf and catch some of the lastest news from Torino. While watching some Canadian chick leave some German chick in the dust all I could think of was....How do these wonderfully athletic girls get those monster thighs into their jeans during the off-season? Come to think of it, do Germans even wear jeans? Hmmm....but I digress from my point. I'm guessing that these women want the same rights as I do, Fair sizes and Trendy clothing! Why should they or any other woman be punished for having a body that doesn't resemble Kate Moss?

Checking out some photo publishing software.

So I've decided to check out Hello! to publish pictures to my blog. A little frustrating at first because when I tried to upload my pic I didn't know how to access it. Working with Picasa, which Hello! uses, is much easier. All I have to do is click "Blog It" and I'm done. Today I definitely love technology! Posted by Picasa
